Why I built this
Before a trip to Japan, I bought a 200 page photography guide. The recommendations were fantastic - but there were no maps, so I copied every address into Google Maps by hand.
A few weeks later, half those pins meant nothing to me. I'd forgotten why I saved them. Then I'd discover another amazing photo on Instagram, spend ages figuring out where it was taken, save it... and the cycle would start all over again.
By the time I started planning my trip, my inspiration was on Instagram, my locations were in Google Maps, and my itinerary lived in a to do list. Nothing connected.
So I built FocalGems - the tool I wish I'd had before I ever booked the flight.

Is there a free tier?
Yes! The free plan includes up to 30 spots and 1 travel plan, which is plenty to get started. You can upgrade anytime if you need more capacity.
Is my data private?
Absolutely. All your spots and plans are private by default. You choose what to publish and what to keep for yourself. We never share your data with third parties.
Do I have to make my spots public?
No. Everything is private by default. You choose if and when a list becomes shareable or sellable.
Can I share spots with friends?
Yes! You can publish spot lists and travel plans for anyone to discover on the Explore page. You can also share direct links to your public content.
Can I change plans later?
Of course. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time. If you downgrade, you'll keep access to Pro features until the end of your billing period.
What maps do you use?
We use OpenFreeMap with MapLibre GL, providing beautiful, detailed maps with no usage limits. You get satellite and terrain views for all your spots worldwide.
How do payouts work for sellers?
Pro sellers receive 80% and Business sellers receive 95% of each sale through Stripe Connect. Payouts are processed automatically and deposited to your connected bank account on a rolling basis.
